Wish List

My Wish List for early 2010...

B!tch on Wheels!

Not sure what the problem is today but I am truly being a B!tch on Wheels! I guess i just woke up on the wrong side of the bed because I am annoyed by the tiniest things and am in a constant bad mood. This funk I am in is making my job so difficult. Three hours to go and I am so anxious feeling that I can't settle down.

I have so much to be happy for but I can't shake it. For one, it is Friday. Two, I am three hours away from being home. Three, sisterfish is staying with me this weekend so we get to have quality sister time - can't beat that!

On my walk to the metro this morning, I was thinking about all the things that I am stressing over so by the time I got to work (another stresser at the moment), I just felt so overwhelmed.
I will continue to sit here & stare at my clock until it is time to leave so I can be around friends and family. thank goodness - there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Prepare to say "AWWWW!!!"

Oh My! So a co-worker shared with me Mr. Winkle. He is an "unknown" breed of dog (the only one of his kind) that was found on the side of the road by a photographer who has made him a sensation. She started www.mrwinkle.com and was an instant celebrity - even appearing on Sex and The City. My heart is melting!!!!!

The Truth

50 Books A Year

I was just updating my goodreads.com reading lists and saw a group called 50 in a year. Basically, they are challenging people to read 50 books this year. Since it is the first month of the year, I am going to "unofficially" join this challenge. I will be sure to blog about the books. I will be including my book club selections so that will be 11 right there (1 less because I am not counting the January book selection since I started it in December - I want to be legit!). Just to be clear, I am not limiting myself in any way to the type of books that count towards my 50. Basically, anything goes.

I am open for suggestions, so if anyone owns a book they recommend, feel free to send it to me and I will read it AND return it. You can send it to my home address in the suburbs- if you need it, just ask! I would love to start a book exchange with friends, family and acquaintances. I have so many books that once read, become dust collectors on the book shelf. I have no problem lending books to people if: 1) I get it back OR 2) I get a book in exchange.

Quick post

I only have a few minutes to post but wanted to get it in before the weekend!

The work week is over - finally! It was been a long one...and a stressful one. But now i can relax. The boyfriend and I are going to grab some wings and beer for dinner and then chill at home with wine and the four dogs. Yippee! Tomorrow is the dinner date with josh and mandy, which i am very much looking forward to.

Other than the little plans, i don't have much to report on. I apologize for the boring post. I have been knee deep in work today, therefore haven't had time to google, facebook, or send funny pictures.

One thing to note is that the babies need doggy training. The boyfriend took the dogs to the park today and Lukie bit a park surveyor. We are lucky he didn't press charges. Supposedly the man was scared and held his spray can in lukie's face...ready to spray if attacked. I feel so bad for that little surveyor man. Lukie is such a bad boy! He is not allowed in public until we get him straightened out. Lesson Learned!

Blah!

It is a Blah Monday! Just one of those days - work is stressful and i am not getting my way so of course it has put me in a terrible mood. Also, i started getting serious about the B word (budget) and have printed out a million coupons for our grocery trip tonight.

A lot to look forward to this week - Book Club on Wednesday and dinner date with friends on Saturday evening to celebrated DC Restaurant Week.

Pennies from Heaven

So Pennies have been taking over my life and driving me crazy. No matter how many times I clean the house, there are always pennies laying around. It is to the point that I just sweep them up and throw them away or suck them up in the vacuum cleaner because I am tired of looking at them. Funny enough, the conversation with my mom was about this exact nuisance. Turns out, she is having the same problem and takes care of them the same way I do (like mother, like daughter)! She told me that her friends at work call it "Pennies from Heaven." They say that when you find random pennies in your house, there were thrown down from heaven from a loved one. We like to think they are from Grandma Mary! (We love and miss you granny!)

On a different note, last night was a rough one after my biopsy. It was so painful to move because the incision is right in my arm pit. Not only was I walking around like Frankenstein but I had to try and fall asleep on my back, which was next to impossible. The boyfriend did his best to take care of me, which was very sweet. The only problem with the evening is that we ordered take out and it took them 2 hours to deliver it! I literally thought I was going to chew my fingers off and it put me in an instant bad mood! yikes!

Today, I was smart enough to take some Extra strength Tylenol to help with the soreness but I am bra-less at work and still uncomfortable. The challenge tonight will be getting a sponge bath from the boyfriend (since I can't get that part of my body wet) and watching him try to wash my hair for me. This should be very interesting!

Penny's Update

Update on Penny: She started breaking out again last night, which was so scary. I swear that i didn't sleep a wink because i was waking up every half hour to hear her scratching or whining. It was the saddest thing ever. I have posted some pics of her for your review.

and this is how the boyfriend found us snoozing...

Can't Catch a Break

Goodness Gracious! Poor Penny Lane - she can't catch a break.

So we cancelled our vet appointment for this morning because her neck and back seem to be fine and she isn't whimpering any more, which is great.

But then a whole new problem arises...The boyfriend found her sleeping on the floor this morning, which was really odd because Penny is a usually a little cockroach and squeezes herself into the tiniest spaces in between me and the boyfriend. After picking her up to give her some lovin', I noticed a bite on her back leg that was red and swollen. I asked the boyfriend to keep an eye on her to make sure the bite wasn't from a poisonous insect. Well, he dropped me off at work and then went to the gym. He arrived home around 1pm to find Penny Lane swollen and splotchy all over her body. I got a frantic call to meet them at the vet so I ran over there and I saw a puppy that had an allergic reaction.

Her little eyes were almost swollen shut and she had pink whelps all over her little bitty body. I was on the verge of tears. The vet was wonderful with her and gave her a shot of cortisone and recommended we give her the prescribed medicine he handed us and a benedryl at night time. The vet assistant kept saying, "It looks like she got in a fight with Mike Tyson!"
Here are some pictures of her after the shot (she instantly looked 10x better)!

Sunday Funday

Sunday = Funday because I get to lay in bed an nap all day and no one can make me feel bad about it! With the high being 20 degrees outside, I am only out there long enough to let the doggies outside to do their business. I can not believe the holiday season is already over. Business as usual tomorrow, which is even harder to believe. Yikes!

I am also very saddened because I have a shortened week with the boyfriend. He leaves on Thursday for a business trip in Miami, which means me and the babies are on our own until Sunday evening! What will we ever do with ourselves?! Not sure, but I hope it goes by fast so that we can celebrate his return.

I also have another not so great post about ms. penny lane. I swear that it is always something! Penny must have pulled a muscle or something because she can't bend her neck and when she lays down, she whimpers when she has to move or get up. We were so worried, we were making her walk around and she was twitching. We thought it was a possible stroke and stayed up worried sick over her. We called the vet the next morning but since it was a Saturday, the vet was out so we set her appointment for tomorrow morning. Thankfully, she is acting a bit better so I think we can cancel her appointment. Not sure what happened with her but poor Lukie is getting neglected as all of our attention has been focused on Penny Lane - Poor lukie!
