Lost Keys & Free Starbucks

So today is our lucky day here on M Street because the Starbucks across the street is giving away free coffee. Why you ask? Well because the manager lost his keys on the metro on his commute into the city this morning, therefore can't get into the store. When our Academies team walked across the street to get caffeinated beverages, the manager was standing outside handing out vouchers to get a free drink at the Starbucks two blocks down. Yippee! I love free stuff---especially when they are unexpected little gifts such as this one.

Update on Penny Lane: Miss Penny is such a trooper. She has a little bandage/cast on her leg, which our roommate Jamie signed her initials to and wrote I "Heart" You (so cute). She is on pain meds for the next two weeks and is walking on three legs. She is supposed to get her sutures out next week so hopefully everything goes well and it doesn't get infected.

Reminder: WASH YOUR HANDS! This new strain of flu (SWINE FLU) is getting serious and WHO keeps raising the levels of seriousness. I heard today on the news that there are 6 cases in Maryland. oh no! Looks like face masks may make their way into our area (let's hope not).

Naked Legs and Stiches

Poor little Penny Lane can't get a break--she is at the vet again today. The story is that she was outside playing with her toys when she cut her little leg. Because it was sliced open and bleeding, Kevin rushed her to the vet where he found out they have to put her under and stitch her up. Poor girl! Now she will have to be on pain killers and antibiotics for the next two weeks. Will keep you posted...

Tonight my dear friend, Ali, and I are having a celebration dinner at The Melting Pot. We have lots to celebrate with her engagement & promotion and my new job in a different department of my company. Hooray!!:) I am really looking forward to the cheese pot with all the veggies...YUM-MY!

Once i get home i will give miss penny lane lots of hugs and kisses and snuggle up to her to read my Book Club book "Lolita." If you haven't read it--check it out. It is by Vladimir Nabokov and is turning out to be a very disturbing read.
